The dashing duo get all dressed up for a night on the town, an evening filled with laughter, food, and dancing. Throughout there will be little whispers to each other, a nuzzle, a caress of the hand, a squeeze of the knee, building up until they finally have to bid farewell to friends and guests, and return home for a private celebration for two.

Working on a commissioned piece can sometimes offer a means of escape, as typically the customer has a pretty good idea of what they want. But I do like to add my own personal touch. One of the elements the customer wanted in the picture was a bottle of wine. When it came time to add it, I took the opportunity to reference another painting of mine, Red Truck, which was inspired by a wine bottle label. Being that the customer is from California, and Red Truck is a California wine, it fit nicely.
