On the Drawing Board: a pattern emerges

I rarely attempt fabrics with patterns in pastel.  To create the geometric lines and edges on soft folds along with the colors and shading is quite a challenge.  But sometimes the challenge is what makes it interesting.

On the Drawing Board: Building a forest with pastels

In art it's usually easier to create a forest than it is a tree.  For the tree covered hills in the background I first filled in the area with a dark forest green, and rubbed it in with my finger to fill in all the fiber of the paper.  Next I used a brighter green to shape out the trees.  I only used my finger to drag the edge of the brighter green into the dark, but kept the hard top edge so the trees had form, otherwise it's just a blurry green mass.  A couple even lighter greens were used to add secondary highlights to the tips and a drab brownish-green was used for showing leafy branch clusters in the shadowed areas. 

If I had thought of it, I would have taken pics of the steps I used and posted them as well.

The originals Devil's Playground, Sexually Implicit: Red, and Hung have all recently sold to private collectors and are no longer available.  However you can still get limited edition prints of all three pieces.

Moving!

I'm moving to Vermont.  So please pardon any delays on any orders placed in the next week or two.  I'll ship what I can and hope to have every thing set up quickly in the new space.

New Release: "Devil's Playground"

I didn't realize it until I was finished that, while both very sensual,  this painting is on the opposite end of the God/Devil spectrum as my previous painting "In His Hands".  Makes me wonder if I have some unconscious need to find balance.
