The likelihood that your acts of resistance cannot stop the injustice does not exempt you from acting in what you sincerely and reflectively hold to be the best interests of your community.
— Susan Sontag

The oppression, indignity, suffering and even death inflicted on our fellow human beings often originates from hate, ignorance and fear. These are the things we must always resist whether it comes from others or from within ourselves.

I will donate* 15% of the sale of these prints to Human Rights Watch, a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization working to press for changes in policy and practice that promote human rights and justice around the world. Visit their site to learn more about their efforts to end child marriage in Malawi, 'murderous war on the poor' in the Philippines, torture and execution of gay men in Chechnya among many other endeavors.

*I am not able to provide the customer with a tax write-off for the part of the sale that will be the donation as it's a complicated arrangement that would possibly require a lawyer, accountant, and setting up a separate non-profit entity. If you would like to make donation directly, please visit Human Rights Watch (hrw.org).

For transparency purposes, from time to time I'll post receipts showing the donations to HRW, here.

Dear MICHAEL,
Thank you for standing with us by becoming a member of Human Rights Watch. Your donation demonstrates a sincere and unwavering commitment to advancing human rights for all, and I am deeply grateful.
Your gift of $91.77 will help our researchers to continue investigating, documenting, and exposing the world’s most egregious human rights abuses across the globe.
Thanks to you, we will have the support that we count on to focus international attention where human rights are violated, give voice to the oppressed, and hold oppressors accountable for their crimes.
We thank you for being part of our enduring fight to defend human rights.
Sincerely,
Michele Alexander
