Masterpieces
Masterpieces
With my latest work I thought it would be interesting to ponder the duality of masterpieces. Throughout history there have been countless magnificent works created by talented artisans, but they are still only replicas, tributes to the flawless physiques that inspired them.

Masterpieces will be a part of my upcoming show in Provincetown, MA this summer. If you are interested in purchasing the original, please contact the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

Change in Shipping Prices
Postal Rates The US Postal Service recently raised rates on packages. They've also eliminated the flat fee for a 1 pound priority package so the cost is now based on distance too. So I've had to restructure my fees and methods for shipping. In some cases, such as orders consisting of just a few prints, I'll be shipping via First Class mail rather than Priority. This may add one extra day to the ship-time, but will lower the shipping charge.

Looking to Score
Looking to Score
The winning title for my Name My Art contest is Looking to Score, submitted first by Jay W. from Phoenix Arizona. Jay will be receiving a signed limited edition studio print of the work.

I want to thank everyone who participated and sent in great suggestions. Unfortunately I can only pick one. But I must say, you guys came up with some clever ways of putting balls into the title!

Name My Art Contest My latest work needs a name, so I'm having a Name My Art Contest! Enter as many names as you would like. I'll then sift through all the entries anonymously and pick a winner who will receive a limited edition studio print of the work. In the case of multiple people suggesting the same winning name the winner will be the person whose email arrived first (and is spelled correctly so type carefully). The deadline for entries is Midnight on Saturday, January 16th, 2010. I will announce the winning name on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010.

Enter the contest! The contest is over. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, January 19th.

While the original and prints are immediately available for purchase, no orders containing this work will ship until after the contest ends. Also, the original is a part of my new show next summer and cannot be delivered until after my exhibit ends on July 22, 2010.

Rapture
Rapture
My latest work, Rapture, marks the first time, in spite of numerous requests, that I've depicted an angel in one of my works. I didn't expect the feathers to be so much fun to create!

While the original is available for purchase, it is the first piece for my new 2010 exhibit at the Lyman-Eyer Gallery, so it cannot be delivered until after the exhibit ends July 22, 2010. But there are also limited edition Gallery and Studio prints as well as open edition Portfolio prints which are available at the Special First Day Price until Midnight ET tomorrow.

Coming Summer 2010
Yes, I have been invited (and accepted) to do another solo exhibit at the Lyman-Eyer Gallery in Provincetown MA. The show will run from July 9th to July 22nd, 2010. I already have a theme in mind, of which Rapture is part of. More details will follow. It may seem like a long time but I only have winter and spring, so I need to get busy on new pieces to fill up the gallery walls!

Warmest Wishes
Warmest Wishes
Growing up in northern New York State, just a few miles from the Canadian border, the holiday season always meant cold short days, snowmen, and hot cocoa... you know the stuff sung about in carols and brought to life in many a Christmas tale. But the good cheer that's so effervescent during this season isn't limited to just the snow belt, it's world wide!

The original of Warmest Wishes, as well as open edition Portfolio prints and only 25 limited edition Studio and Gallery prints each, are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price until Midnight ET tomorrow. Holiday greeting cards featuring this work will be available in a week or two.

MS Walk I got a blister and walked in the rain for hours during this year's 3-Day, 50-Mile Walk to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. But it was worth it because our team raised over $6500! I want to give a big thank you from myself, my team and everyone living with MS, for your thoughts, well wishes, and certainly your donations. You are all extended members of our "Keep on Dancin'" team!

Yes, the 2009 walk just ended. But my teammates and I, including my friend Jenny who has MS, already signed up for next years walk! If you'd like to help us get a jump start on reaching our goal, you can make your donation here.

MS Walk I am taking a loooooong walk for those who can't this September, to raise money and awareness to battle Multiple Sclerosis. I am walking 50 miles in the MS Challenge Walk to help those like my friend Jenny who suffers from this debilitating disease. I'm nearly halfway to my goal of $1500. If you can give just $5 or $10 (or more) we can really make a difference because it would be multiplied by the thousands who subscribe to my newsletter.

The second work I'm releasing today is Bernard and Anthony. I don't usually accept portrait-style commissions. But I just love their faces, their amazing eyes, and the obvious contrast. I hope they both will agree to be featured in a future less portrait-y work.

While the original is sold, limited edition Studio and open edition Portfolio prints are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price until Midnight ET tomorrow.

Best of Artists & Artisans
It's great whenever my work gets noticed, whether by an individual or an organization. It is really thrilling when it gets noticed outside of its genre. The publishers of the Best of Artists & Artisans art books have taken notice of a few of my works and wish to include them in their upcoming edition Best of America Pastel Artists. Along with the two pieces they requested, Vers la Vie Nocturne and Restraint: Caged, they also invited me to submit a few additional works for consideration. The publishers noted, Your subject matter would certainly be categorized as different for this kind of "Traditional" book but it is important for us to expand boundaries - your work is outstanding and again we're very honored to include you.

Okay, you're all probably tired of hearing about The Breathtaking Blue, but I want to say I had a wonderful time at the reception and am thrilled with its success! Thanks to everyone who came, making it a bigger turn out than last year. And thanks to my partner and friends for sharing the evening with me. While a new exhibit takes my place in the main room of the Lyman-Eyer gallery after tomorrow, many of my works will remain on display. So if you are in Provincetown any time, certainly stop by.

For those of you who were unable to attend, I created a little slideshow for you.

Though I had not planned a series, my latest work View from the Top does make a good companion piece to Crave. Perhaps a few more 'sex acts' that are fully implicit without being explicit are in order. Stay tuned!

The original is on consignment with the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. While available for purchase, it will remain with the gallery through the end of my upcoming show, the Breathtaking Blue. Three Days Until The Breathtaking Blue

It's almost here! Yes it has been over half a year that I have been working on my upcoming exhibit, the Breathtaking Blue. It has been fun picking a theme and working it into several new pieces. Framing them and all the other work to make the show happen has been... well... maybe not as fun but an adventure and a good experience. As of today four of the originals in the show already have buyers, which is great and takes some stress off of me. But if you are attending (or not) and have your eye on a certain piece and don't want to miss out, you can contact the Lyman-Eyer gallery now to secure purchase of any remaining originals. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones this Friday night.

Website Issues
The last couple of days we've been having a few problems with the website due to some hosting issues. Because of this, Mark has been researching alternative hosting options. As it stands, the site is now on a new server, and we've been assured that the problems we've been experiencing should be resolved. Our hosting company has asked that we reconsider staying with them, and their technical support have gone through a lot of trouble trying to resolve our issues. So we're putting them on probation until the end of July. Mark has told them if things stabilize now and remain stable until July 31st, then we'll stick with them. But if not, we now have the site set up at a new hosting company and will make the switch if necessary.

The Breathtaking Blue
I've been busy getting originals framed and ready for my up-coming show, The Breathtaking Blue. Two of my works for the show, Dream of the Dolphin and La Dolce Vita, have already been sold. I'll be delivering all of the originals, including some works I have not yet released, to the gallery this weekend.

Now that my new website has been available for a week I would love to hear back about your experiences with it. So if you have a moment, please leave me some feedback about what you think of the site.

I'd also like to take a moment to highlight some of the new features of my site.

One of the features is the automatic Day of Release pricing. This will always be the lowest price for my originals and giclée prints, so the best time to buy is the day I release a work. And the easiest way to keep informed of that is to be on my newsletter mailing list.

free e-cards I also really love the look of my new-and-improved e-cards. And with over 30 of my works to choose from, it's easy to find the perfect one to send to your sweetie, or your butt buddy.

Through the month of June, anyone can send free e-cards featuring my artwork. But starting in July, you will need to be a member of breyette.com to send e-cards. An account will not be needed to retrieve and read e-cards sent by breyette.com members.

I know the economy might not be so good, but artwork is always a great investment!

If you would like to own one of my originals, but simply don't have the funds, consider buying through my payment plan! It's very simple. I require a 20% non-refundable deposit to hold the work for your purchase. Then you have up to a year to pay off the remaining balance in monthly installments. I don't charge any extra "finance fees", so you don't end up paying anymore than you would if you bought an original with a single payment. As with the sale of all originals, a signed sales agreement is required.

Also, my payment plan isn't just for originals. Any order over $200 can be paid for over 3 months, over $500 can be paid over 6 months, and over $1000 can be paid over 12 months. So if you think you might be interested, contact me and I'll draw up a payment plan agreement for you.

La Dolce Vita
La Dolce Vita
Thank you to all who participated in naming my latestwork! With hundreds of titles submitted, I had plenty to choose from. Each was a wonderful example of all the different and insightful interpretations that can be made from one image. Ultimately though, I had to pick one. I sifted through and rated them on the general appeal of the title... how it rolls off the tongue, cleverness... I like titles if they can add or enhance the piece, and apropos... how well the title related to the scene. I finally decided on La Dolce Vita. It has a nice ring to it, the sweet life conjures nice warm feelings and it establishes the locale as Italian. Congrats to the winner! Your prize, a limited edition studio print, is on its way!

The original is on consignment with the Lyman-Eyer gallery and will be in my upcoming show, The Breathtaking Blue in July. Limited Edition Gallery and Studio prints, as well as open edition Portfolio prints, are available for purchase here at my online studio.
